A garden design studio founded on two very different ways of looking at a garden, and one shared belief in doing it properly.
Blooming Scotland is a garden design studio based in Central Scotland, founded in 2022 by Gabriele Anderson and Fraser Anderson. We design gardens and green spaces for homes, estates and businesses across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Central Scotland, bringing a scientist's precision and an engineer's structure to every project we take on.

Fraser grew up exploring Colinton, on Edinburgh's edge, and has brought an engineer's eye to garden design ever since. His background in project management within the construction industry, combined with a Practical Horticulture qualification from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, means every Blooming Scotland project is planned with the same precision as a build site: structured, considered, and built to last. He leads on hard landscaping, project delivery and the technical side of every design.

Gabriele Anderson

Gabriele's path to Scottish garden design started far from Scotland itself. Originally from Lithuania, she fell for the country's landscapes in 2013 and has called it home ever since. A PhD in Biomedical Science, paired with an RHS Level 2 qualification from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, gives her a genuinely scientific approach to plant health and soil, the kind of grounding that shows in every planting scheme she designs. At Blooming Scotland, she leads on soft landscaping, plant selection and garden maintenance, and is usually the person you'll speak to first.
OUR APPROACH
Two different eyes, one shared standard
Gabriele's instinct for naturalistic, cottage style planting and Fraser's eye for formal, structured design might sound like an unlikely pairing, but it's exactly what makes a Blooming Scotland garden distinct. Every project balances beauty with function, and wildness with structure, approached with the same rigour a scientist and an engineer would bring to any serious piece of work. It's this combination, not just individual taste, that shapes every design we deliver.
BEYOND THE GARDEN GATE
Still gardeners at heart
When we're not designing gardens across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Central Scotland, you'll usually find us up a Munro, testing new plant varieties in the family greenhouse, or being closely supervised by Hamish and Betty, our two dogs and self-appointed quality control team.
